” A highlight of our product portfolio is a rare collection of the most beautiful emeralds of more than 10 carats each. “
An emerald’s enchanting hue and rich history are once again taking centre stage at the September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair with Belmont Mine’s expansive emerald collection.
According to Marcelo Ribeiro, director of Brazil-based Belmont Mine, a large selection of top-grade cut and rough emeralds in all sizes, shapes and prices are available at its booth. These include small calibrated and large stones of the finest quality.
“A highlight of our product portfolio is a rare collection of the most beautiful emeralds of more than 10 carats each,” revealed Ribeiro.
The company is eyeing to do business with existing clients from around the globe, specifically China.
The emerald expert said his customers are now using a notable amount of emeralds to inject value and character to their jewellery pieces. “Our business is growing exponentially in Asia since Chinese customers are now using more emeralds after their interest in tourmalines has subsided,” he added. Ribeiro also cited a shift in customer preferences when it comes to the cut and quality of the gemstone.
“Customers that were more conservative and used to buy only emerald cuts are now asking for ovals, rounds and pear shapes. Buyers that were into commercial-quality stones in the past are now moving to medium-and high-quality pieces,” noted the gemstone expert.
Emerald prices are stable this year, he added. “As a mine-to-market emerald dealer, Belmont can offer price stability to its customers, which is vital to growing their business,” Ribeiro said.
What makes Brazilian emeralds stand out is their ultra-distinctive colour, he remarked, nothing that the stones are available in light to dark brilliant green.
